Applications - Superior Advantages with APG

Dual fuel customers have selected the system for a variety of reasons.

Smaller Fuel Tanks

By reducing the amount of diesel fuel used in an engine, the fuel tanks can be much smaller. Many companies are having to remove old underground fuel tanks and they can replace them with inexpensive, smaller above ground tanks. A dual fuel engine running at 80% natural gas and just 20% diesel will see a 400% increase in the amount of run time they can get from their existing diesel fuel tanks.

Emissions

California is not the only area requiring lower emissions. Many cities have `non attainment’ levels which means a company must remain below a certain level of air pollution per year. Dual fuel provides significant reductions in exhaust emissions, especially NOx.

Two Fuel Redundancy

Engines which run on 100% natural gas have always been subject to shutdown if the gas line is broken. Dual fuel allows the engine to run on nearby diesel fuel until gas is restored.

Free Fuel

Wellhead gas, landfill, sewer and other sources offer free natural gas making dual fuel the perfect choice for operation and cost efficiency.

Equipment Costs

Large natural gas engines can be three times the expense of a standard dual fueled diesel engine. Service and parts for diesel engines are less expensive than custom gas engines where special tools and training are required.

Lower Gas Rates

Converting an engine to dual fuel can increase natural gas consumption to lower gas rate, which benefits all energy usage within a factory.

Gas Company Support

Most gas utilities will support dual fuel conversions by running the extended gas lines at no charge and perhaps paying for the complete conversion process.

Funding Programs

Monies are available for alternative energy programs and clean air concepts. Gas industry representatives generally can assist in identifying where to get free funding.
